Hello,
My wife and I are visiting Europe for 7 weeks, starting 9/23/07. We're visiting Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Austria, and Spain and places in-between. Any suggestions of what to see? Also, I've heard of a town in Belgium where almost every person takes in a handicapped person and cares for them. I'd love to know more about this town so we can visit. Thanks--Compassion

Creativity of the co-op

There's a wonderful little vegetarian restaurant.
It has also sponsored discussion on subjects of compassion, like animal rights. And folks can play there homade songs on the guitart. This is a low budget thing-- a co-op with about 8 owners--now looking for a new space. Heard of other creative ventures?
Also, I once helped with two once a week coffeehouses while in college that supported folk musicians. Just passed around a hat or charged a buck to pay the rent.
Also a local food coop has free yoga classes for members.
Have you heard of any creative ventures? Going to Europe--anything going on there these days?
Thanks ---Compassion

Hi, my wife and I are going to Europe in October. I have never visited there although I speak English, Spanish, and some German. We'll be visiting The Netherlands, the Austrian Alps, and Malaga Spain and points in-between. We are both vegetarians. I would like some tips on traveling, how to use Hostels, how to find Veggie Friendly places, and perhaps if we communicate, our paths can cross. Thanks --Compassion

Hello fellow greeners. Thought you might be interested in this vegetarian organization in Portland, Oregon. It started as an offshoot of Earthsave and now has over 200 members. They sponsor monthly potlucks and dineouts and have great speakers. Their newsletter keeps people up on a lot of subjects. You might want to check this out and maybe start something similar in your community. (Start with a potluck!) What I enjoy is finding folks that are compassionate on so many levels. And if you come to Portland, think about coming to a potluck! Happy New Year--Compassion

Congratulations. Remember your strengths which already seem to be caring, and flexibility. I believe it's the "In Defense of Animals" that suggests a meatless monday as a beginning. Perhaps a key will be in finding veggie friends and lots of good recipes. And it doesn't hurt to visualize happy happy animals. I visualize chickens settling into some warm dust (or Banty's roosting in the trees on a balmy day}--Then it's worth making some changes. Come to Portland,Oregon. We have 50 veg friendly restaurants and 18 vegetarian restauraunts. Bless you
