I can well understand Kerouac's stream of consciousness reasoning. (Punctuation feels laborious tonight.) Can't decide whether to flow along with the music or create a bit of anarchic disorder in my brain..stir things up a bit. This time of the evening conducive to reflective ponderings on the nature of time..desire for a mate...looking for direction. The problem with having lived through the 60/70's as a young adult, is that this present materialistic and self serving age feels particularly gruesome and can be depressing if one doesn't keep one's cosmic humour goggles on.I could see the Thatcher years came about as a direct result of the psychedelic era..pendulum swing..those years were bad enough from a 'scary trip' perspective..but the present age..Mon Dieu!! Global warming with so-called 'natural' disasters as a consequence, Multi-nationals, George Bush ..the Chinese had an interesting curse..'May you live in interesting times' (a curse because the individual would spend a lifetime locked in fascination/angst at the outside world, rather than looking within) Hmmm...perhaps I should have just flowed then?..ho hum

The plan had been to be a butterfly..a gypsy..and then when I was older and wiser I would find 'the one'- when I was sussed enough to have a good chance of actually sustaining a proper relationship. So I stand condemned as a serial monogamist..and whilst I was chasing my tail..the years drifted by...took my eye off the sands filtering through the eggtimer (to be expected really..being a vegan!) and lucky not to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous ageing..still climbing trees to rescue kites and rolling down hills.. and suddenly or so it feels to be relegated to the sidelines. Definite bummer..need a glass of vino to toast in the Chinese New Year..and contemplate the coming of Imbolc!
